According to an article in today’s Denver Post (See Senate candidates generate options on energy policy), Democratic Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff “… called Thursday for the U.S. to require that 30 percent of electricity be generated by renewable sources within a decade.” “Renewable sources” cost more than our current sources of energy. No matter how many unicorns Romanoff and the Greens conjure up in their vivid imaginations, costs matter.
Those hurt most by higher costs are not evil corporate bankers lighting cigars with $100 bills. Those hurt most are poor people that budget their expenses down to the penny.
Rich people will write a check for higher heating costs. Poor people will get cold.
Yesterday’s Denver Post contained the headline: “Countries sign deal to reduce emissions” The story notes that “the accord is not legally binding. It has no enforcement provision….” Allow BlueCarp the liberty of translating this story. The headline would be more accurate if it proclaimed: “Dishonest, easily duped doodle on paper; proclaim moral superiority.” The story should then note that “true Conservationists decried the shameless waste of paper” Noted climate change expert Osama bin Laden has joined the Al Gore Cult of Global Warming. It is not known if the Cult officially clashes with bin Laden’s version of Islam.

The “cruel beasts of capitalism,” of course, are to be replaced by the butterfly and lollipop loving rationale of Al- Qaeda. Hugo Chavez gets to the heart of the matter at Copenhagen:
The Copenhagen delegates, like primitive cavemen dancing around a fire, howling at the moon, offering human sacrifice to appease their false god, are prepared to offer up centuries of progress in a meaningless attempt to appease their false god. The immorality of the modern day green cultists is staggering. They care not that they will make electricity, heat and basic modern comforts unavailable to the poorest of the world. They ignore the staggering economic costs of forcing the aged and infirm to quit using cheap fossil fuels to warm their houses in the winter. The aged and infirm are mere casualties in the Green Crusaders’ war against progress – that same progress that allowed them to fly in jumbo jets to Europe, and that same progress that ignites the internal combustion engines in their limousines that idle outside their luxury hotels. That same progress that they, the elite, will be able to afford no matter how much electricity and heat cost the huddled masses. The cultists have no interest in achieving their goals if the means do not give them control over others. If they actually believed that immediate action is necessary to save the planet from self-immolation, they would be building nuclear power plants. That solution to their fictitious problem, however, does not allow them to decide who gets how much money. It does not require tribute. It does not require you to succumb. And you must give tribute. And you must succumb. Or the oceans will boil! (Or some such fantastic tripe). And, just like false evangelical television stars, they inflame the fear and ignorance of others for their own financial gain. It is a disgrace. Joseph Goebbels understood propaganda. His words apply to the fraud pushed by members of the Al Gore Cult of Global Warming:
It is hard work defending a cult. Especially when the truth might harm its foundations. Cult leaders will suppress the truth to protect the religious movement. Scientists seek truth.
That, my friends, is the difference between members of the Al Gore Cult of Global Warming and actual scientists.
The New York Times reports that the Cult’s internal memos demonstrate a deliberate intent to suppress the truth to preserve the religion.
Some examples:
An actual scientist faced with data contrary to his hypothesis would ask if his hypothesis was wrong. A religious zealot curses the data and calls it a travesty.
In a 1999 e-mail exchange about charts showing climate patterns over the last two millennia, Phil Jones, a longtime climate researcher at the East Anglia Climate Research Unit, said he had used a “trick” employed by another scientist, Michael Mann, to “hide a decline” in temperatures. Actual scientists do not use “tricks” to fool people. Cult leaders and snake-oil salesmen use tricks, to, well, trick people into believing a lie.
“Drinking the Kool-Aid” has become a cliche, but Jim Jones would have made an excellent climate change advocate from his campground in Guyana. Jones led a very successful cult.
Just like Al Gore.
Science is all about questioning, not agreement. At one point, the “concensus” was that the world was flat, that the sun revolved around the earth and that bloodletting helped cure disease.
If not for questioning, and overcoming those fallacies, we’d still be stuck in the middle ages.
What makes the global warming movement a cult is that it’s priests shun all non-believers as heretics, and refuse to acknowledge any dissent.
That’s not science. That’s religion.
The Priests of the Green Movement have many proposals to solve their make-believe problem. All of them involve increased government control of the economy.
Any solution that does not involve increased government control of the economy is dismissed as heresy. For instance, the increased use of nuclear energy. Nuclear energy would help solve the make-believe problem. However, since it would not increase government controls over the economy, it does not fit the gospel of the cult and must be shunned.
If members of the Catholic Church had half the fervor of the Al Gore Cult of Global Warming, they wouldn’t be closing any parishes.
